What You'll Do:

 

Perform laboratory tech responsibilities for the Owen Plant by monitoring sample delivery, correct logging and labeling, compositing, and retaining sample while ensuring that laboratory procedures, methods, and practices are carried out as defined in the Quality System at Kerry,  Participate in or lead various Quality programs including but not limited to GMP inspections, calibrations, new product introductions, equipment performance and maintenance, sanitation practices, allergen, Food Safety and Quality programs and SAP, others as needed. 

Responsibilities:

 

•    Demonstrates a positive attitude and relates in a positive manner when interacting with all personnel. 
•    Understand and comply with all HACCP, allergen, environmental, regulatory and customer demands and requirements.  Keep detailed and accurate quality records. 
•    Conduct employee training, education and development relating to quality. 
•    Support overall EMP program.  
•    Evaluate products and disposition out-of-spec materials.  
•    Work in cooperation with production, management, and the other laboratory technicians to help them monitor all production. 
•    Keep lab neat, clean, safe, and orderly (which includes washing of all glassware/labware). 
•    Create and update lab procedures and programs. 
•    Order all laboratory equipment and supplies. 
•    Create daily report of quality issues and concerns and communicate them to management. 
•    Act as interface to research and development, contract plants and other Kerry plants on quality testing and concerns.  Evaluate testing methods to ensure accuracy. 
•    Maintain laboratory equipment calibrations and standardizations. 
•    Support preshipment program to ensure customer satisfaction. 
•    Supports and advocates employee policies and expectations, quality, customer satisfaction, GMP, sanitation, and production requirements.  Maintain awareness of customer and regulatory demands and focus.   
•    Report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. 
•    Responsible to adhere to quality system requirements.   
•    Keeps the immediate supervisor informed of relevant activities on shift and takes or recommends corrective action when required. 
•    Coach or direct other department personnel so that they have the required information to perform their jobs adequately.  
•    Responsible for making sure HACCP/PC’s related policies are complete and reviewed, including, but not limited to metal checks, filter checks, raw material release, allergen declaration, knife control, sanitation PC, screen checks, weight control, and packaging verification.   
•    Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, SAP and/or Intelex is desired. 
•    Perform environmental, sensory, analytical testing (pH, Titration, moisture, fat, etc..) and / or instrumental evaluation of raw material, in process, or finished products following SOP and specification. 
•    Ensure the laboratory is well-maintained, including upkeep of equipment, stocking of lab supplies, and maintaining cleanliness of work areas.  
•    Maintain laboratory data, files, supplies, and calibrate equipment on a regular schedule as well as maintaining databases. 
•    Any additional duties as directed by the Supervisor/Manager.
