About the role

Brandeis University Undergraduate Admissions is accepting applications for the position of Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions. The Associate Director will work closely with the Director to provide counsel and assistance on a daily basis in the strategy for and execution of recruitment, selection, and enrollment of first-year and transfer students. This person will serve as a member of the senior admissions team and support the overall execution of strategic departmental and institutional enrollment goals. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • In close collaboration with Director, manage the first-year and transfer selection processes.  This includes assigning reading territories, conducting second reads, overseeing reader training and reading metrics, chairing committees, working with the operations team on applicant outreach and coordinating the counseling team’s work around decision releases.

  • Manages the domestic recruitment process by advising on strategy and working with a Senior Assistant Director to assign travel territories, approve proposed travel plan and budget, monitor the feedback process and evaluate the efficacy of current initiatives providing reports and data.

  • Supervises four professional staff members who are respectively responsible for the management of selection related projects, domestic recruitment, and external partnerships.

  • Hires, trains, and manages 5-10 seasonal application readers.

  • Responsible for participating in general duties standard of all admissions counselors. Such duties include: travel, interviewing, holistically reading and evaluating applications, conducting on and off campus presentations regarding the University and admissions programs.

Education & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.

  • 5-8 years related work experience, including supervisory/management experience.

  • Strong process management skills; organizational skills; problem solving, and decision making.

  • Ability to strategically utilize and analyze data to make informed recommendations and decisions.

  • Must be organized, an excellent communicator and collaborator, with the ability to work with multiple deadlines.  Ability to build strong relationships with admissions staff and constituents across campus.

  • Computer skills - proficiency with Microsoft applications required; Slate Technolutions, Workday preferred.

  • A valid driver’s license is required.

  • Evening and weekend work are necessary during key periods.

The Admissions Office works in a hybrid fashion with exceptions for certain periods of the year. Typically, two scheduled remote days per week are planned after the first three months of employment. We have one day each week when all staff are scheduled to be on-campus.
