Job Description
We are seeking an experienced competitive and market intelligence professional to join our Market & Competitive Intelligence team within Corporate Strategy. The Sr. Manager will actively partner within Corporate Strategy, as well as other key functional areas in the company to identify market and competitive insights and participate in a wide breadth of high-value strategic projects to help Western Digital realize our vision – Architecting how data enables the world to solve its biggest challenges. The role is fast-paced, dynamic, and comes with senior leadership visibility, who often make meaningful strategic decisions based on this team’s analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Create and deliver timely impactful analysis to senior management and the broader team, conveying product, industry and strategic implications in a clear and concise manner.
- Drive and create competitive and market sizing models to support our planning and decision-making processes. Integrate internal and external perspectives to help drive company-wide alignment on foresight, market views and strategic context.
- Contribute to and participate in competitive intelligence activities across the company
- Research market and competitive trends, including products, roadmaps, partnerships, government policies, strategic customer relationships, utilizing various internal and external resources and information services.
- Drive major strategic projects to support Western Digital’s growth aspirations
- Solicit pro-actively perspectives of internal domain expertise
- Participate in the continual improvement of existing report formats; collaborate with key functional areas of the company to identify process, content, and insight improvements.
- Exhibit strong teamwork within and beyond the Strategy team to drive company-wide success
- Integrate tools and best practices into function; help build scalable capabilities in the company
- Support onboarding of new team members
Qualifications
Education, Certifications, and/or Licenses and Experience: Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:
- Master’s degree in business, engineering or computer science. Data management training a plus.
- 5 -10 years of experience in high technology (corporate strategy, product management, technology management).
- 3 years exposure in using market and competitive intelligence as an input to decision making.
Specific Knowledge:
- Advanced data analytics and research capabilities
- Some technical understanding of flash memory, controller, function/features of enterprise and hyperscale requirements, systems and eco-systems.
- Ability to quickly synthesize various viewpoints and provide key takeaways and impact analysis.
Computer, Software, Tools, Equipment, and Machinery Skills:
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Interpersonal:
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with others who may have ongoing competing priorities and viewpoints, including company employees in other countries.
- Effectively communicate insightful findings and recommendations, including senior management.
