Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) 2, whom will report to the VUMC Diagnostic Core Labs, Diagnostic Laboratory Team Leaders (DLTL)’s, and whom will have responsibility for performing routine clinical pathology testing and instrument management of laboratory services under occasional guidance. This is an exciting and dynamic laboratory at the cutting edge of patient care, providing applicants with the opportunity to learn and develop new technologies and diagnostics, including ongoing cross-training within the Core labs – which includes Core, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Hematology, and Serology benches. Additional responsibilities include routine diagnostics testing; assisting with development, validation, and implementation of new clinical tests; equipment maintenance; quality improvements, and training of MLS students, staff, pathology residents, and clinical fellows

VUMC is an academic medicine environment, providing team members frequent interaction with clinical teams and exposure to complex and novel infectious cases.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides patient-focused care in a clinical setting through the accurate performance of routine and complex tests through the pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic stages.
• Performs qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures, including reagent preparation and appropriate quality control, according to required protocols, with precision and accuracy in a timely and efficient manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments and their interrelationships as well as physiological conditions affecting test results.
• The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.

Consideration may be given to candidates that can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines.

Position Shift:
VUMC, Vanderbilt Laboratory Services, diagnostic Core lab, MetroCenter campus, located in Nashville, Tennessee, Fulltime, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm CST, with every 3rd weekends and holiday rotations
