Patient Care Technician I, Full Time, Primary Care, Byram

Front Desk Duties (Primary Role – Byram Primary Care):
- Greet and check in/check out patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Verify insurance, collect co-pays, and update patient demographics
- Complete insurance referrals
- Schedule appointments and maintain schedule in EMR system
- Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and route messages appropriately
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Patient Care Technician (PCT) Duties (Floating Role):
- Room patients and obtain vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.)
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during visits
- Perform EKGs, and point-of-care testing (as trained)
- Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure cleanliness standards are met
- Assist with patient flow to ensure timely and efficient care
- Follow all clinical protocols and infection control guidelines
Additional Responsibilities:
- Float between Hackettstown Family Medicine and AMG Primary Care at Byram as needed (mileage reimbursement applied, if applicable)
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support daily operations
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain patient confidentiality
- Adapt to changing workflows and assist with special projects or coverage needs
- Participate in training and ongoing development for both front desk and clinical duties
Required:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent experience
2. Prior administrative experience in a physician practice strongly preferred
3. Knowledge of computerized scheduling & EMR system a plus
Preferred:
1. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
2. Patient, compassionate nature
3. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses
4. Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
