The Project Development Group provides engineering solutions to strategic operating divisions within the region.  We are seeking a professional like you to provide chemical process engineering expertise in support of capital projects and initiatives.

In this role, you will work closely with other discipline engineers, project managers, and manufacturing representative personnel to provide engineering solutions.  

You will think strategically to mitigate risks, solve problems, and deliver value to BASF.  You will be developing scope for large capital projects, modification, and optimization to existing sites. In this role, you will support capital projects through all phases of the project lifecycle.  You will also be responsible for driving process safety excellence and supporting operating units with continuous improvement activities and troubleshooting. You will also collaborate in identifying opportunities and establishing scope for other process engineers (third-party engineering firm) during all phases of the projects.

As a Process Senior Engineer, You Create Chemistry By...

• Preparing documentation for and participating in BASF auditing processes, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, and project safety reviews.
• Using process engineering tools such as ASPEN, hydraulic modeling programs, instrumentation sizing for restrictive orifices and/or control valves, flashback protection devices and safety relief device sizing programs.
• Preparing key process engineering deliverables to support large capital projects such process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, hydraulic models for line sizing.
• Providing process improvements and participating in plant start-up, process troubleshooting, and optimization related to improve efficiency, capability, and safety. Interface with operations to provide technical support and recommendations on methods and improvements to eliminate problems.
• Interfacing with the design disciplines and engineering contractors to facilitate the completion of engineering tasks.
• Resolving action items associated with conceptual planning, detailed engineering, and construction.

If you have...

•    BS in Chemical Engineering and 7 or more years of relevant technical experience.
•    Experience helping to understand the process equipment design including pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, etc. 
•    Knowledge related with process tools to design piping systems, calculate pressure relief valve sizes, complete material and energy balances, and perform process optimization studies.
•    Experience working knowledge of CAPE applications (ASPEN, HYSYS, PSV-Calc, Pipe-flo, etc.) a plus.
•    Experience familiarity with engineering, purchasing, accounting and construction practices and extensive process experience, proven leadership abilities in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing environment,
•    Strong communication and computer skills.
