Co-Chair of the Division of Marriage and Family Therapy/Wichita Site Program Director (1647)

Friends University invites applications for the position of Co-Chair of the Division of Marriage and Family Therapy and Program Director for the Wichita Master of Science in Family Therapy program.  This is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position with an appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor.   The successful candidate will have previous teaching experience, ideally in a COAMFTE accredited program, will be licensed (or license-eligible) in the state of Kansas as a Marriage and Family Therapist, will hold a Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related field, and will be an AAMFT approved supervisor or supervisor candidate.  The university desires to hire a thoughtful, collaborative leader who is committed to ethically integrating the university’s Christian mission and values with Marriage and Family Therapy education.

The Master of Science in Family Therapy (MSFT) program began in Wichita in 1986 as one of the university’s first master’s degree programs.  The program expanded to include a delivery site in the greater Kansas City area in 1996. The Wichita and Kansas City Program Directors also serve as Co-Chairs of the Division of Marriage and Family Therapy and participate in the University’s Academic Leadership Team.  The MSFT degree is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marital and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), with the most recent accreditation renewal completed in 2018.  The Wichita site of the MSFT program enrolls 34 or more students, who move through the 60-credit hour, 24-month program as a cohort, with courses beginning in the fall semester. 

EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will receive a 12-month administrative contract to fulfill the duties of Program Director/Co-Chair and core faculty member for the Wichita program. Expectations of MSFT faculty include integrating the university’s Christian mission and values into teaching, scholarship, and service, meeting other University faculty role expectations for teaching, scholarship, and service, demonstrating interpersonal competency in interaction with program students, colleagues and stakeholders, engaging diversity through instruction, supervision, and program development, contributing to MSFT program effectiveness, and contributing to advancing the practice and profession of MFT.  Assignments in teaching are based upon the candidate’s credentials and the division’s curricular needs.  Courses could include FMTH 670 Social and Cultural Diversity in Human Development, FMTH 620 Contemporary Issues with Families, or FMTH 640 Development of Biopsychosocial Health across the Life Span.
