About the role:
The Associate Director, Medical Affairs will lead a team that strategically partners with key opinion leaders to generate and disseminate clinical evidence and education to ultimately improve evidence-based clinical practices and patient outcomes in interventional cardiology therapies in the United States.

 

Work Mode:

This is a Maple Grove, Minnesota-based hybrid role with three days in-office when not traveling for customer engagements.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage day-to-day activities of staff to maximize pro-active contributions to scientific conferences, educational activities, independent research programs, HCP & Societal Partnerships, and internal collaborations and communication strategies. Ensure the group meets commitments, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Identify and develop clear job functions/responsibilities and effectively communicate expectations to team members. Manage performance to expectations.
  • Allocate and manage resources appropriately. Manage budgets. Define and implement team processes to ensure executional excellence.
  • Initiate, build, and maintain internal & external relationship at all levels to achieve divisional, department, and initiative goals. Participate and collaborate across the industry and within BSC to ensure executional excellence.
  • Create, customize, and prepare physicians to present scientific educational content for scientific congresses and educational programs.
  • Evaluate and recommend clinical sites who will contribute to excellent execution of clinical trials.
  • Identify and develop needed metrics and reporting to evaluate team output and program impact. Identify areas of improvement and new opportunities to meet organizational goals. Implement solutions and make recommendations to management to improve performance and impact.
  • Ensure physician activities and programs are compliantly conducted in accordance with Boston Scientific policies.
  • Provide coaching and development to staff.  Identify growth opportunities and assist subordinates in attaining career goals. Motivate individuals to achieve results.
  • Will lead a group or team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals.  Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
  • Support successful execution, communication and collaboration in a heavily matrixed environment.
  • Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
  • May direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).

 

 

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • Minimum 8 years of experience (medical device, cardiovascular) in a related function(s) such as clinical, research, scientific affairs, medical affairs or marketing or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of clinical issues associated with cardiovascular therapy management gained through direct or comparable relevant experience in a therapeutic area, scientific or clinical setting is acceptable. 
  • Fluency in understanding & interpretation of clinical data 
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, interpret clinical data and effectively communicate to customers. 
  • Solid coaching & mentoring skills and proven experience in medical device industry 
  • Interpersonal skills to enable cross-functional collaboration between internal stakeholders and customers.  
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree: Master’s degree (MBA, MSc, MS, SM, MM, MHA, M.Bus, MASc), M.D., or PhD.
