Senior Drinking Water Technical Lead

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is currently seeking a senior-level Drinking Water Technical Lead to provide technical delivery leadership and team mentorship, support pursuits, and to serve as a technical subject matter resource for our growing drinking water business. In this role you will work closely with our team of Project Managers, Discipline Leads and Design Engineers, providing the technical knowledge necessary to deliver innovative and strategic solutions to a wide variety of drinking water projects throughout our Northwest and national operations.

Depending on the selected candidate's skillset/interests, project may include PFAS planning and design, groundwater treatment, surface water treatment, and water supply and climate change resiliency planning. Remote work is allowed from the Northwest region but candidates will be expected to travel to offices/client worksites as required; hybrid work is preferred and the ideal candidate will be located near one of our offices in Seattle, Tacoma, Portland or Boise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work hand-in-hand with clients and project delivery teams in the Northwest to develop unique drinking water treatment solutions that protect public health.
- Perform the role of Technical Lead to delegate, sequence and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers performing planning and designs projects.
- Advise and lead technical delivery of PFAS-related water treatment projects, including process selection, preliminary and detailed design, and services during construction.
- Serve as Technical Lead in developing and preparing process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans, models, and other technical deliverables for a variety of drinking water projects.
- Solve complex technical problems related to drinking water.
- Serve as a mentor to rising professional staff.
- Support the Drinking Water PM with client and internal meetings to advance project work.
- Assist with business development efforts including positioning, pursuits, and client management services.
- Inform the development of strategies for the drinking water market in the Northwest.
- Prepare written reports and technical memorandums to document analyses and recommendations.
- Engage in PNWS-AWWA and selectively present at conferences and professional meetings to further represent BC’s brand and to benefit the company’s knowledge of issues and to understand client needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in civil or environmental engineering with experience in the design and delivery of water treatment projects. Engineers with other degrees such as Chemical or Mechanical may be considered if they have strong experience in municipal water treatment facility planning and design.
- P.E. or ability to obtain a P.E in Washington and/or Oregon is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility in related experience with drinking water treatment systems including planning, supply, treatment, design, water quality analysis, regulatory requirements, and/or water infrastructure.
- Strong written communication skills and experience producing technical reports.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. degree in civil or environmental engineering with experience in the design and delivery of water treatment projects.
- 12+ years of progressively increasing responsibility delivering drinking water system and/or treatment related planning and design projects in the role as a Technical Lead, Project Engineer or Project Manager.
