JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Facilities Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking a Facility Maintenance Intern to assist trades in completing tasks/jobs, escort contractors throughout the lab, and cover the desk as needed.
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
You will:
Provide ARL supervision and oversight of visitors, design professionals, and contractors
Perform tasks associated with renovations, maintenance, and/or specialized facility services
Act as a customer safety representative on various work sites; ensuring a safe work environment is realized for employees and visitors
Maintain knowledge of ARL Security practices and procedures
Serve as a work site liaison with ARL Facilities and Security to ensure visitor logs are kept current
Ensure visitor logs accurately reflect contractors performing maintenance, renovations, or direct services to ARL buildings, infrastructure, grounds and/or equipment
Required skills and experience include:
Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment); including hard hat, high visibility vest, and safety glasses for an 8 hour shift
The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours per week over the summer. Hours will vary.
This is a paid internship, located at the University Park campus. Relocation and housing are not provided.
