Description
The Warner School at the University of Rochester welcomes applicants for an Adjunct Instructor position. The appointment begins June 29, 2026 and ends August 7, 2026. This is a short-term position and will teach the 3-credit course “EDE 476 - Teaching English Learners in Content Classrooms” for the Summer B 2026 academic session.
Course Description:
This course serves as an overview for in-service teachers and pre-service teacher candidates in a range of content areas who work with English language learners (ELLs) in their content classes. The course will introduce students to key concepts of language learning, cross-cultural communication, methods of teaching English, and language assessment. Students will engage in analysis, application and adaptation of teaching methods, materials, and strategies to support instruction for linguistically and culturally diverse students in their own content classes. (Meets content-pedagogy requirement for professional teaching certification).
Qualifications
Applicants must have a record of excellence in both teaching and practice. Experience with online instruction and Blackboard is desired. Applicant must have a master’s degree in a related field and the ability to teach courses at the graduate level.
