Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

We are looking for top talent to build and scale the next generation of technologies, products and services to help our customers build a better—more sustainable—world. We need self-motivated, intelligent and team-oriented individuals to make our plans a reality. Individuals with high emotional intelligence, humility and openness to discovery will thrive in the teams we are building.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Engineer in the Stationary Power Conversion Controls section within Caterpillar's Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) division, you will be a technical leader driving real-time controls design and simulation for power conversion products. You will develop control algorithms and L4/L5 controls architecture, lead MIL/HIL and lab validation, and steer NPI controls issue resolution to deliver differentiated, standards-compliant power conversion solutions across the division.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead real-time power system design and development for stationary power conversion / inverter controls

  • Develop simulation models, control algorithms, sequence of operation, FMEA, RCA, and test plans; supervise and support MIL & HIL teams across test scenarios.

  • Develop L4/L5 controls architecture, software requirements, and algorithms for stationary power conversion controls, ensuring compliance with applicable standards (e.g., IEEE 1547, UL 1741) and supporting low-voltage electrical architecture.

  • Define control strategies for power conversion control system integration and end-of-line testing.

  • Lead controls lab testing, drive NPI controls issue management, and coordinate with PMO to deliver features and milestones on time.

  • Guide and support HIL teams; review and prioritize HIL test plans.

  • Support integration and lab testing of power conversion controls.

  • Lead site-level test planning (voltage and frequency stability, site telematics, DC block integration) with gensets, loads etc.

  • Develop control system requirements and architecture for site control features.

What You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Computer, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering).

  • Analytical Thinking: Extensive experience and knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Communicating Complex Concepts: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

  • Problem Solving: Extensive experience and knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Embedded Systems: Working knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.

  • Requirements Analysis: Working knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Working kn
