Job Description:

Central Lakes College seeks a creative and collaborative librarian to join our library team to provide high quality services and support to our campus community. This is a full-time, on-campus faculty position. This position will manage the library’s day-to-day operations, print and electronic acquisitions, cataloging needs, systems and discovery platforms. Librarians share reference, instruction (of students and faculty colleagues), collection development, and other responsibilities. The library team works together to develop and execute work plans, policies, and procedures. As a faculty member, other professional responsibilities include department or committee work, student learning assessment, and professional development.

Duties Include:

This position manages the library’s electronic resources and discovery systems to ensure reliable and efficient access to the library’s collections and resources.   

  • Manage access, problem resolution, and assessment of the library’s technologies.

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of the library’s electronic resources including trials, acquisition, licensing, troubleshooting, and assessment.

  • Manage the acquisition, renewal, and cataloging of print and other resources.

  • Provide library usage instruction to students in both in-person and online settings, with an emphasis on information literacy.

  • Manage the library’s budget.

  • Manage access to various vendor platforms.

  • Manage authentication via the EZProxy system.

  • In cooperation with the CLC webmaster, ensure that the library’s website is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.

  • Identify and provide training within the library on various library systems. Stay current with new and emerging technologies and how they might impact the library.

  • Participate in the MnPALS consortium.

  • Serve as the primary contact with campus departments and vendors concerning library technologies.

  • Provide reference services in-person or via technology, and by appointment.

  • Participate in collection development for selected programs including outreach and research support.

  • As support to CLC faculty, facilitate instructional design of courses to support digital information literacy and academic integrity.

Salary Range:

$43,067-$98,660

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent degree by the time of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in academic libraries, college teaching, and instructional design.

  • Experience with library acquisitions, including creating purchase orders, receiving invoices, and managing a budget. Experience maintaining vendor relationships, negotiating contract terms, and working with financial software Workday Finance.

  • Experience with academic library digital platforms such as OCLC Record Manager, the ExLibris Alma system, the Ex Libris Primo discovery interface, and the EZProxy system.

  • Evidence of professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and experience working with diverse populations.

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, writing, and organizational skills. Flexibility and self-motivation. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a contributing team member with a service orientation.

  • Experience ensuring accessibility in both the physical and virtual environments.
