Airport Fuel Farm Operator- CLT Douglas Airport

 

Location: Charlotte Douglas International Airport

Work Type: Shift 8-10 hrs.

Pay Rate: $24/hr

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Highly Desirable:  Associates degree, or three years fuel operations/maintenance experience or five years general industrial experience.

*Candidate for this position must pass pre-employment drug and color blindness vision test.

 

Primary purpose:

• The Fuel Farm Operator is responsible for facilitating the movement of fuel from and between pipelines, tanks, and trucks in a safe manner.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Performs routine and periodic inspections in compliance with company, customer, government and industry standards
• Transfers product and monitors storage tanks, pipelines and related equipment to ensure that they are in good working order to prevent spills, releases, overfills and product contamination
• Conducts all work in a safe fashion by adhering to all company, customer, industry, local, state and federal safe work policies/procedures
• Utilizes computer program to track various aspects of the operation.
• Accurately log entries of fuel transactions, quality control activities, and required inspections.
• Samples and tests products for quality control and perform inspections.
• Performs preventative maintenance of equipment at fuel storage facilities/systems including related equipment on fueling vehicles.
• Requires Climbing tank stairs, operating valves, pumps, and gauging tanks
• Basic use of mechanical tools (pipe-wrench, open/close end wrenches)
• Drives a pickup truck at times to complete tasks.

 

Experience / specific knowledge:

• Knowledge in the use of measuring devices, like gauging tapes, thermometers, tapes measures, etc.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills, excel, word, and outlook
• During the probationary period the employee must display an aptitude to learn, manifolds, tank configuration, line systems and pass tests related to this training
• Must be able to perform basic math skills that will encompass, adding and subtracting fractions, word problems, percentages, mixed numbers, decimals, and basic mechanics

 

Physical demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 to 60 lbs

 

Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in all conditions outside, day and night, throughout the year.
• Negotiate uneven surfaces
