Sustainability & Energy New Grad | Madison, WI

 

Join IMEG as a Sustainability & Energy New Grad in Madison, WIIn this role, you’ll contribute to sustainable design practices across the company while building expertise in energy and carbon analysis. As part of our Sustainability & Energy team, you’ll support projects through energy modeling, daylight and carbon analysis, life cycle cost analysis, CFD studies, and certification support for LEED, WELL, PHIUS, and Green Globes. You’ll also collaborate with engineers across disciplines to provide guidance that helps deliver high-performing, sustainable design solutions. 

 

Principal Responsibilities 

  • Perform building performance analyses on IMEG projects. 

  • Advise clients on strategies to decarbonize and optimize building performance. 

  • Support certification efforts through energy modeling, documentation, and team coordination. 

  • Lead sustainable design projects and help manage team workload. 

  • Troubleshoot project issues as a technical resource with senior staff support. 

  • Contribute to design decisions and recommendations alongside senior staff. 

  • Participate actively in the team’s quality control process. 

  • Support technical development efforts within the Technical Operations Team. 

  • Create and present technical analysis reports to internal and external audiences. 

 

Required Qualifications and Skills 

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent required 

  • No experience required, internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred 

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred 

  • Experience and certifications with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Homeland Security in the areas of Incident Command System (ICS) Emergency Management, Emergency Response, and Critical Infrastructure and Assessments preferred 

  • Experience with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, personnel, and  procedures (e.g. Unified Facilities Code, US Army Corps of Engineers and other  guidance and documentation on force protection construction and engineering) preferred 

  • Energy modeling and analysis of all building types including CFD and Daylighting analysis and Life Cycle Cost Analysis 

  • Whole building life-cycle assessments 

  • Knowledge and implementation experience of national and local energy conservation codes and local laws 

  • Knowledge of federal and regional tax rebate and incentive programs 

  • Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups 

  • Knowledge of operational and embodied carbon 

  • Demonstrated aptitude to design/manage major large projects, and often multiple  

  • projects concurrently
