Global Investment Research (GIR) provides investment recommendations by generating fundamental research and analysis of companies, industries, markets and economies. Our clients include asset managers, hedge funds, mutual funds, pension funds, and major non-financial corporations, among others.
The Macro Research team focuses on the intersection between economics and financial markets across a wide class of assets including equities, fixed income/credit, currencies, and commodities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a PhD economist to join the US Economics team. Economists will:
- Write weekly economic research reports for a large global audience that includes clients across the financial industry, Goldman Sachs colleagues, and policymakers
- Present the team’s economic views to a wide range of clients globally
- Forecast GDP, the labor market, inflation, and monthly economic indicators
- Closely follow and forecast US monetary policy decisions
- Interpret and comment on high-frequency economic data releases
QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in Economics
- Strong interest in macroeconomics and monetary policy
- Experience producing original and ambitious economic research
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team setting
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $150000-$225000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
