Core Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions
- Implement instructional design principles, psychology, user experience (UX) design, and educational technology to create engaging, learner-centered experiences.
- Participate in developing and delivering the Catalight Classroom high-quality, inclusive, and equity-informed education. This includes exceptional instructional design using development tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, and Adobe products.
- A deep understanding of adult learners, andragogy principles, best practices in online learning, and experience with instructional design models like ADDIE.
- Experience developing knowledge checks and assessment items, such as quizzes, interactive activities, and performance-based evaluations, to effectively measure learner comprehension, support mastery of learning objectives, and meet accreditation requirements.
- Skilled at curating and organizing diverse learning resources from external sources and internal materials to create a coherent and engaging learning path.
- Experience using Backward Design and Action Mapping to identify program and learner needs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, influence stakeholders, and advocate for innovative learning solutions that align with the organization’s mission and learner needs.
- Ability to use learner data and analytics to inform design decisions and continuously improve learning experiences.
- Implements Accessibility Guidelines across the learning catalog to ensure that learning experiences and training content assigned are accessible to all while ensuring our guidelines reflect alignment with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508, and Level AA international Web Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Works on cross-functional teams and multi-stakeholder environments with a standard of practice that acknowledges power and privilege.
- Ability to view, explore, and build strong, collaborative partnerships with humans throughout our community.
- Manages the workflow of online course development, reviews and documents course development, and other services provided.
- Manages assigned programs and maintains currency of content by updating and enhancing materials to incorporate new techniques for improved delivery to learners.
Qualifications
Minimum Education, Learning Experience Design Equivalent to:
- Three years of experience as instructional design or learning experience designer, e-learning development experience required.
- Experience with various learning management systems and e-learning development tools such as Articulate Rise, Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe products, Vyond, Moodle, Captivate, etc.
- Experience designing and developing compelling learning experiences for adult learners.
- Candidates must submit a portfolio showcasing their experience designing and developing learner-centered experiences, including examples of e-learning modules, instructional materials, and any projects demonstrating proficiency in tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, and other relevant platforms.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Sensitivity to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
- A commitment to the organization's values while demonstrating sound judgment, flexibility, patience, and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Work in an exciting, fast-paced, high-energy environment while effectively multitasking and managing day-to-day responsibilities without supervision.
- Personable; able to work comfortably with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Open to feedback, fostering a collaborative environment for continuous improvement
