Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Insurance is seeking to hire an Executive I in the Health Products Division. This position provides support to the Health Products Division; develops and maintains training information on administrative policies and procedures and health insurance related issues such as new laws and statutory requirements; assists in the interagency coordination of legislation and regulations with the insurance industry, trade associations and insurance departments of other states; plans, develops, and provides recommendations to implement policies, procedures and guidelines for statutory compliance; researches, develops, drafts and reviews policy analysis, evaluations, and agency issue papers.  We invite all qualified applicants to apply.

Essential Functions

• Owns, implements, and executes the administrative auditing program for the Health Products Division: 
    • in collaboration with management, develops the health products auditing program; 
    • confers with management on the integration of program function activities to resolve administrative problems and program function improvements; 
    • audits and evaluates consumer complaint files, consumer calls and compliance form filings, and mandatory reporting and public posting requirements of companies licensed to sell health products in Illinois; 
    • performs data analyses of health products, complaints, external review, analyst caseloads and compliance filings to ensure data is being managed appropriately; 
    • ensures completeness and accuracy of data or actions taken within a health products, complaints, external review, or compliance filings; 
    • reviews performance standards with trainees, analysts, and management.
• Provides support to the Health Products Division: 
    • produces regular reports to assist staff in management of their workload; 
    • conducts extensive and complex research of the Illinois Insurance Code and administrative code, federal rules and regulations, prior Department positions and regulatory activities of other states; 
    • completes responses to examination inquiries from the Financial Analysis Division; 
    • provides responses to health products FOIA requests; 
    • updates and oversees administrative account changes in the complaints system.
