JOB SUMMARY
A critical member of the Specialized retail network, the General Manager balances excellence in retail operations with a passion for the power of a great brand. The General Manager maintains the culture of the business and sets the tone of the stores and supporting flex spaces across multiple locations in a region. The ideal candidate has a consistent record encouraging successful, profitable retail, and wants to take that expertise to the next level as a driver of outstanding brand experiences in a non-conventional retail setting. Beyond being a well-adapted business leader, the General Manager works collaboratively with multiple store teams, retail partners, and local riders as a host, mentor, brand advocate, and customer service ace. Ultimately, you’re driven by the desire to lead a team toward maximum productivity and efficiency. A Specialized General Manager will oversee all staff, budgets, and operations of the local Specialized retail stores. This role also works cross-functionally with other members of the Specialized team to facilitate store-based events passionate about education, product launches, advocacy, and brand innovation.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Overall profitability of multiple retail stores, namely covering and exceeding the store’s run cost to maximize the contribution to the topline revenue of Specialized Bicycle Components globally
- Develop strategic plans for optimized productivity at the individual store level
- Exemplify outstanding methodologies for store teams staff and local operators while working the salesfloor at the locations as needed.
- Stay connected to customers and build relationships with team members; be a part of the stores’ culture and operations
- Ensure the conveyance of transformative, inclusive, ride-focused, locally authentic, and collaborative experiences for staff and riders alike inside and out, c/o the Specialized Retail Way
- Performance management/talent management of all current employees in multiple locations
- Encourage a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive workforce through talent recruitment
- Oversee the scheduling of staff and ensure coverage for showrooms and flex spaces
- Facilitate the educate multiple store teams (in-house training, SBCU, and SBCU.com facilitation)
- Monitor and uphold all cleanliness and organizational standards for the sales floor, office space, flex spaces and vehicles
- Develop and maintain relationships with local clubs and organizations
- Handle the progress and ensuring timely delivery of all special orders, home deliveries, service bikes
- Ensure staff has direction and is informed when store managers are not present (days off, time off, etc.) so that all employees are working purposefully towards store goals
- Monitor the evaluation of employee performance and be available when issues arise in-store, among riders, staff, and the service/sales interface
- Set goals with store managers which include development, store-wide goals, and larger company initiatives
- Managing budgets for localized sales and marketing related programs and activities
- Maintaining statistical and financial reporting back to the operations leaders
- Operate within the set rules of the company (Specialized Retail LLC.) and ensuring alignment of all practices with Specialized Bicycle Components
WHAT YOU NEED TO WIN
- Passion for cycling and the Specialized brand
- A current or former retail manager with 1-3 years of multi-unit management experience preferred
- Excellent communication with the ability to effectively interact with riders and team members
- Must be able to work as business dictates which includes weekends
- Experience recruiting, training, supervising and appraising staff
