Part-time/Temporary - Camp OT Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Camp Assistant supports the Camp Director in the daily operations of CampOT, a week-long occupational therapy day camp serving children and adolescents with disabilities. The Camp Assistant provides on-site supervision of OTA students completing Level I pediatric fieldwork, ensures the safety and engagement of campers, assists with activity implementation, and helps maintain a therapeutic and organized camp environment. This role requires a licensed occupational therapy assistant familiar with pediatric practice, therapeutic activity planning, and student supervision.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Camp Director in daily coordination and oversight of camp operations.
- Supervise OTA students during camp activities, providing guidance, redirection, and support as needed.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining camp activity areas, equipment, and materials.
- Support OTA students in preparing and facilitating group and individual activities based on campers’ needs and goals.
- Model professional behavior and therapeutic approaches consistent with occupational therapy practice.
- Aid in managing camper transitions, behavior support, and activity flow throughout the day.
- Support camp documentation processes as required (attendance, incident reports, student evaluations, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and order within the camp environment.
- Communicate effectively with the Camp Director, OTA faculty, students, campers, and families.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Camp Director or OTA faculty.

- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and interventions for children and adolescents with disabilities.
- Ability to effectively supervise and support OTA students.
- Demonstrates professionalism and a positive, welcoming demeanor with students, campers, and families.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems in fast-paced or dynamic situations.
- Ability to model safe, ethical, and occupation-focused practice.
- Strong understanding of therapeutic activities, group facilitation, and pediatric behavior support strategies.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Initial certification as a COTA or OTR.
- Current Texas licensure as an OTA or OT.
- Minimum of an associate degree.
- At least two (2) years of clinical experience in pediatric, developmental, or related occupational therapy practice.
Preferred:
- Experience supervising OT or OTA students.
- Experience working in camp, group, or community-based pediatric programs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Active, fast-paced environment with frequent transitions.
- Indoor and outdoor activity settings.
- Requires ability to lift or assist children as needed for safety.
- Requires standing, walking, supervising, and physically engaging in camp activities for extended periods.
SALARY: $1,200. total - this is a temporary position for 1 week only.
