RCS – Inpatient Coding Team Lead

Monday through Friday; flexible between the hours of 6am and 6pm EST. This position is responsible for leadership Inpatient Facility coding within IU Health Revenue Cycle Services. Ensures high quality standardized work processes that result in consistent outcomes that compare favorably with relevant national benchmarks. Serves as the first tier escalation for team members on coding problems or issues and supports management in promotion of staff development and the allocation and coordination of daily work. Strong communication skills, inpatient coding expertise, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
***Remote with potential of mandatory on-site meetings. Candidates based in Indiana are highly preferred. Training will be predominantly conducted virtually, with the possibility of up to one week of on-site sessions.
Must have Inpatient coding expertise in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS and AHIMA and/or AAPC coding credential

- Team Leadership – Coordinate daily team activities, identify and escalate issues, provide coding support, and conduct training for team members.
- Revenue Cycle Management – Oversee the team to ensure timely, accurate completion of accounts, support revenue cycle goals, and optimize outcomes within standards.
- Productivity and Effectiveness – Ensure the team achieves or surpasses productivity and quality standards. Analyzing and tracking performance as necessary to assist in improvement processes.
- Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement – Maintain regulatory expertise, ensure team compliance with quality standards, identify issues, recommend improvements, and assist in documentation development and updates of training and reference materials.
• For Clinical position-Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• For Coding position- prefer one of the following or a combination of: Associate?s or Bachelor?s degree in HIM or HIM related field, coding credential through AHIMA, or coding credential through AAPC.
• For Charging - prefer an Associates or Bachelor?s degree in a business related field.
•Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in business analytics using tools such as sequel and Excel.
• Requires a minimum of 5 years clinical health care experience.
• Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience with Indiana University Health Revenue Cycle Services.
• Requires expert knowledge of revenue cycle requirements and regulations.
• Requires a high level of interpersonal, problem solving, and analytic skills.
• Requires effective written and verbal communication skills in both individual and group settings.
• Requires the ability to promote teamwork and develop team members.
• Requires the ability to take initiative and meet objectives.
