JOB SUMMARY:

Scan and file all incoming patient documents into EHR, check to insure they are in appropriate folders within the EHR, field all calls pertaining to Medical Records, document calls on phone message template in patient’s EHR, document completed tasks in patients chart, process incoming records and outgoing releases, bill appropriately for medical record releases, obtain reports, fax, copy and mail documents, prepare records for insurance company audits.


WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS

The position is full time or part time depending on program needs. Other hours when specified by the Health Center Director. May be required to work in any/all Family Health Services’ locations.


SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Scan, File and Check all documents into/in EHR
  • Answer telephone in courteous, professional manner
  • Field all calls pertaining to Medical Records
  • Process medical record release requests
  • Print records from EHR
  • Maintain and document all outgoing releases
  • Computer literate
  • Bill appropriately for Medical Records
  • Retrieve Labs and Reports from outside entities
  • Comply with HIPAA Policies
  • Fax, Copy and Mail
  • Other duties as needed

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, GED, Medical Assistant Certification or 2 years experience.
  • Organizational skills
  • MMR and TB 


PHYSICAL EFFORT/ ENVIRONMENT

Moderate physical activity: walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping and occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs.). Frequent use of phone, writing, typing and verbal communication. Significant exposure to blood borne pathogens, respiratory diseases, other infectious diseases, and other biohazardous material requiring universal standard precautions for medical staff. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 


COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must have excellent communication skills for all levels of client, provider and colleague interaction. 



CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION

Full access to client's medical record and some access to financial/statistical material.

Maintains client confidentiality at all levels of interaction in accordance with State and Federal Laws and CCAP

policies and procedures.
