Job Specific Working Conditions:

Job Overview: Young Life at PLNU is seeking a passionate, creative, and relational student to serve as a Student Staff, with a social media focus. This role blends leadership, communication, and ministry, focusing on digital engagement and authentic student connection. You’ll play a key role in shaping our social media presence and supporting outreach through meaningful relationships on campus. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Weekly Commitments (10–15 hours/week): 

Leader Meetings & Ministry Engagement (5 hours/week): ○ Attend/help lead weekly leader meetings (Sundays) 

○ Participate/help lead in Tuesday night Club 

○ Help lead in a Small Group 

Meet separately with Young Life staffweekly 

Contact Work (5 hours/week):

○ Spend time on campus building relationships with students 

Grab coffee, attend events, and connect with peers intentionally 

Social Media & Team Leadership (5 hours/week):

○ Plan and create content calendars and posting schedules 

○ Delegate content creation and tasks to the social media team 

○ Manage and grow Young Life PLNU’s Instagram and other platforms 

○ Reach out to students via DMs to promote events and follow up 

○ Lead the social media team by ensuring accountability and creative collaboration 

Qualifications: 

● A commitment to Jesus, to living daily life with him and to growing in your faith 

● A commitment to living in and walking out faith in community- being invested in a local church and a local small group or mentorship experience 

● A current PLNU student involved or interested in Young Life’s mission 

● Strong communication skills and an understanding of social media trends 

● Experience with Instagram and basic content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Reels) 

● Organized, reliable, and able to take initiative 

● Comfortable leading peers and working both independently and on a team 

● Willingness to fundraise your stipend through Young Life’s support model 

Compensation: Approximately $650 per month (fundraising expectation: minimum $2,500 for the year)

Ministry Functions:
Spiritual Development — “Following Jesus” includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health and church relationships.

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.

Leadership Development — “Equipping leaders, committee and staff” includes key volunteer care, recruiting, team building and training, supervision and vision casting.

  • Meet with your volunteer leaders and area leadership on a regular basis.
  • Learn to recruit and train new leaders to build a leadership team that reflects the community.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners and camping to other leaders.
  • Attend and be involved with area leadership as assigned.


 

Resource Development — “Fueling the ministry” includes events, major donor care, public relations (branding) and TDS team.

  • Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Assist with camp fundraisers and attend occasional committee and adult functions as assigned.


 

Direct Ministry — “Proclaiming and modeling” includes contact work, club, Campaigners and camp. Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.

  • Participate in leadership with a team to conduct a Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry with excellence.
  • Participate on a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for a ministry.
