his position is located in the State to State / Driver Services Unit, at SCDMV Headquarters in Blythewood, SC.



Responsibilities of the Driver Services Specialist III

  • Tasked with supporting the State-to-State (S2S) Helpdesk in maintaining SC credential pointers by manually executing a range of SPEXS transactions, including changing the state of records, adding or deleting drivers, updating information, and more.
  • Tasked with aiding in the resolution of duplicate pointers for the S2S helpdesk. Conduct research and analyze relevant customer data to assess whether a potential duplicate is indeed a true match, and employ suitable SPEXS transactions to address possible or confirmed duplicate pointers.
  • Tasked with supporting customers of the S2S Helpdesk, which includes both internal and external clients such as personnel from other SCDMV offices and DMV agencies in different states, through a web-based portal, email, and phone communication. Keep a detailed log of all requests handled.
  • Handle error reports for the S2S Helpdesk. Keep a record of the processed errors. Support the review and maintenance of customer records to guarantee data accuracy as required.
  • Process driver history received during change state of record according to current and future SPEXS and departmental procedures.
  • Carries out additional tasks as assigned by supervisors and managers. Provides assistance to others when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

Agency Requirements

  • Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to deal effectively with the public in disseminating and obtaining information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; grammatical rules clerical formats and/or journalistic principles.
  • Knowledge of behavioral characteristics of the physically or mentally challenged.
  • Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in interpreting and applying department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to coordinate and work well with others.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate effectiveness of administrative/clerical procedures.
  • Must be able to type and be proficient with PC. Must have knowledge of motor vehicles laws and regulations.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Routine and non-routine correspondence is completed by employee independently.
  • Complex and questionable duties are at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Ability to speak and hear with clarity, to bend and lift, and must have good eye and hand coordination.
  • Work is performed in a climate controlled office setting with light background noise.


Qualifications

Agency Preferred

  •  A high school diploma plus two (2) years related job experience.
