Principal Architect

Help build a multi-tenant SaaS serving 5000+ global companies and join a team that’s redefining what product management systems can be. You will have the chance to drive some of the big decisions and foundational platforms that help our whole engineering organisation accomplish that while remaining as fast, agile, and reliable as ever.

On a typical day, you will:

• Work with highly motivated technologists – engineers, designers & product managers
• Define and communicate strategies to enable successful outcomes
• Ensure technical investments are aligned to vision and strategy
• Coordinate technology across domain groups to gain efficiencies
• Propose sequencing and execution plan for key technical initiatives
• Report to senior leadership on significant initiatives and innovations
• Serve as a role model for less senior staff and participate as a mentor or coach
• Provide insights into the technical feasibility of product strategies

About you:

• You have 10+ years of experience of services, product development, or infrastructure experience. The ideal candidate has significant software as a product, web scale delivery, database, distributed architecture, and software engineering experience.
• Strong mentor to junior staff and able to lead and teach others to ensure technical alignment.
• Have a deep understanding of the fundamentals required to build highly available and scalable services.
• Understand and can articulate and lead conversations on the benefits and associated trade-offs between asynchronous and synchronous processing, various methods for sharding and segmenting services, and how to foresee, plan for, and prevent scaling bottlenecks.
• Have 5-10 years of design experience with medium to large-scale containerized / Linux operating system production environments, preferably as part of an online service (SaaS) provider environment.
• Possess a solid financial acumen – you should understand the cost tradeoffs of various technology decisions.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of cloud technologies and strategies to assist and enable scaled SaaS products with a focus decreasing operational costs and time to market.
• Can articulate the value of virtualization technologies, big data systems, cloud platforms and enabling services.
• Experience using iterative development fundamentals, including experience with SCRUM, Agile or other iterative approaches.
