Sr. Solutions Engineer (HR Technology)
GartnerAbout the role
Hiring near our Irving, TX Center of Excellence with a flexible environment.
About Gartner IT:
Join a world-class team of skilled engineers who build creative digital solutions to support our colleagues and clients. We make a broad organizational impact by delivering cutting-edge technology solutions that power Gartner. Gartner IT values its culture of nonstop innovation, an outcome-driven approach to success, and the notion that great ideas can come from anyone on the team.
About the Role:
Gartner’s HR Technology organization is driving a unified, innovative solution architecture across Workday, third-party HR products, cloud platforms, and emerging technologies. As a Solution Engineer, you’ll be the connective force between HR, IT, and business teams—designing, documenting, and delivering integrated solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. You’ll thrive in ambiguity, take high ownership, and build trusted partnerships across the organization to ensure the success and adoption of our HR technology portfolio.
What You’ll Do:
Lead Solution Design: Architect and design integrated HR technology solutions, collaborating with delivery teams and business partners to solve complex business challenges.
Drive Integration: Develop and document integration patterns using REST and SOAP APIs, middleware, and low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Workday Extend, Power Platform).
Document Solutions: Create and maintain clear, detailed architecture artifacts including ERDs, process flows, capability diagrams, and data mappings.
Communicate & Present: Translate complex technical solutions into clear, compelling presentations for non-technical stakeholders and executives, highlighting business impacts and tradeoffs.
Collaborate Across Teams: Act as the “glue” between HR, IT, and business units, proactively identifying gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for alignment.
Champion Outcomes: Measure success by business impact and user adoption, not just project completion. Take accountability for solutions from ideation through continuous improvement.
Navigate Ambiguity: Operate effectively in environments with overlapping responsibilities, undefined processes, and evolving priorities.
Promote Best Practices: Advocate for architectural principles, integration strategies, and continuous improvement across the HR technology portfolio.
Stay Curious: Keep up with HR tech trends, emerging platforms, and best practices to inform solution design and innovation.
What You’ll Need:
4–8 years’ experience designing and delivering technical solutions in an enterprise environment (ideally HR tech, especially Workday).
Technical Skills:
Integration: REST & SOAP APIs, middleware (e.g., Dell Boomi, MuleSoft, Workday Studio), SFTP, webhooks
Low-Code/No-Code: Workday Extend, ServiceNow, Power Platform
Solution Documentation: ERDs, process flows, capability diagrams, data mapping
Scripting familiarity (Python, PowerShell) a plus
Business Acumen: Proven ability to translate business needs into technical and functional requirements, and to make recommendations with clear articulation of business impacts and tradeoffs.
Communication: Exceptional
