Position Summary:

Responsible for execution of corporate sanitation program and performance expectations at the 12+ manufacturing plants.  Includes monitoring of sanitation related KPIs and supporting non-conformance performance with gap closure initiatives.  Conduct effective plant sanitation audit at all facilities and complete reports with action items.  Execute the sanitation onboarding and training program.  Provide technical expertise for chemical usage, sanitation practices, and continuous improvement of sanitation.  Lead design and usage of systems like POKA and Redzone as tools for optimizing sanitation training, execution and documentation.  Develop and execute an operating model that provides leadership, coaching, support to plants and regional managers. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • PLANT SANITATION KPI MANAGEMENT: Responsible for establishing annual sanitation performance metrics, monitoring performance, and closing gaps.  Acts as liaison between plants and corporate.  Monitor all KPIs and keeps scorecards updated including review of 3DT, ATP, MSS; assist with improvement opportunities.  Tracks EMP program results and provides solutions.   Ensures sites have all necessary SSOPs and validate them regularly.  Manages changeover requirements to ensure maximize line efficiency while minimizing labor costs.
  • AUDITING/VISITS Conducts on site facility audits according to a schedule provided by management but at least each facility one per year.  Support visits may be needed for incident management as well.  Provide oversight to the Ecolab equipment fund and ensure funds are used annually in an appropriate way and report regularly to Director of Ops Quality. 
  • ONBOARDING/TRAINING Execute an onboarding and training program for sanitation supervisors and sanitors.  Work with plants to keep training matrices up to date.  Train sanitation supervisors to be prepared to successfully respond to audit questions from customer, SQF, or regulatory agency using mock audits.
  • TECHNICAL GUIDANCE      Provides technical support on effectiveness of plant sanitation and cleaning programs (SSOP's).  Guides facilities during special plant sanitation issues such as allergen cleans microbiological and environmental controls. Assist in plant start-up activities of new sanitation impacted equipment/lines (including review of SSOP documentation and cleaning verification documents).  Ensures facilities verify and validate automated cleaning systems annually.
  • SYSTEMS  (Poka, Redzone,VRS)  Identify ways to utilize tools to optimize sanitation management.  Provide tools for training at the plant for systems that support.  Helps plants build and maintain training matrix.  Validate training.
  • OPERATING MODEL Develop an operating model with Sanitation Supervisors, plant QA managers, and RQAMs.  Lead a monthly Sanitation Supervisor meetings with timely topics; participate in  Sanitation University at least once per year.  Train new Sanitation Supervisors and play a key role in their onboarding.
  • Travel required 60% of the time. Position can be remotely located.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field.
  • 5+ years experience in the food industry, ideally in the Sanitation function.  

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • HACCPand PCQI certification is required.
  • Experience with diverse sanitizing applications (wet clean, dry clean, CIP systems, automation).
  • Experience in successfully addressing environmental sanitation challenges in areas such as drains, floors, walls roofs, equipment.
  • Experience managing compliance at multiple, remote locations and leading through influence.
  • Experience providing guidance, effective training and counsel to others.
  • Ability to understand and analyze issues involving food
