As the Director of Software and Informatics Portfolio Management, you will play a critical role in driving the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of our R&D organization's software and informatics projects. You will lead a dynamic team responsible for managing the entire software and informatics portfolio, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget. This role requires a strong blend of leadership, technical acumen, and project management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning, execution, and management of software and informatics Portfolio that aligns with the industry standards and regulatory requirements in accordance with the company policies
  • Collaborate with upper management to define and prioritize key Software Portfolio initiatives, considering market trends and technological advancements.
  • Oversee the end to end software project lifecycle from ideation to delivery, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead a team of software program and project managers to define and manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to meet organizational objectives.
  • Implement best practices in software project management methodologies to optimize the development and delivery process.
  • Lead and inspire a high performing team of software developer and project/program managers.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Ensure employee development plans are created and executed for all levels of his/her organization.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, including product management, quality, user experience, and operations to ensure seamless integration of software solutions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with software and informatics projects ensuring proactive problem solving and issue resolution.
  • Implement robust processes for project risk assessment and contingency planning.
  • Define, track, and act on key indicators (KPIs) to measure the successes of software and informatics projects.
  • Regularly report on project status, budget adherence, and key milestones to management.
  • Typically encompasses elements of both direct management and hands-on program or project management functions.
  • Ensure PMO resource assignments within Product Development are optimized to achieve the needs of the program and/or projects within their scope.
  • Design an optimized organizational structure to support his/her portfolio.
  • Contribute to planning activities for the SW&I portfolio as well as support other portfolios that require SW&I resources and deliverables.
  • Ensure projects have solid development plans including detailed timelines with durations, dependencies, critical path, and milestones.
  • Anticipate and address internal/external business and regulatory issues.
  • Work collaboratively with the other members of the PMO leadership team to identify and drive initiatives to improve program and project management capabilities.
  • Able to establish strong relationships with senior-level internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive the application of best-in-class project management approaches and techniques to achieve optimal project outcomes.
  • Ensure projects have solid development plans including detailed timelines with durations, dependencies, critical path, and milestones.
  • Provide management and leadership skills and drive execution on Program goals.
  • Works on complex, multi-dimensional system-level challenges.
  • Interprets internal/external business and regulatory challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, and services.

Requirements and Experience:

  • Successful leadership of cross functional product development Core Teams as Program Manager resulting in the launch of regulated products/platforms or highly complex RUO products/platforms.  Specific experience leading Softwa
