Job Description

Position Highlights:

·         Position: Staff Nurse – Labor and Delivery

·         Location: Evanston Hospital

·         Full Time/Part Time: full time 32 hours

·         Hours: 2300-0730, with weekend rotation;

On call : 8 hours every 6 week schedule

·         Required Travel: Required to float to other sites if needed.
 
 
What you will need:

·         License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required

·         Education: Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred

·         Certification: BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required

·         Experience: Minimum of 1- 2 years Maternal Child Health or acute care nurse experience strongly preferred


 
What you will do:

·         Independently provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for a patient population on a specific unit

·         Utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care

·         Guide and direct assigned unlicensed assistive personnel in delivering interdisciplinary patient care

·         Communicate and collaborate with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care

·         Positively contributing to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience

A Brief Overview:
The Staff Nurse will deliver safe and compassionate nursing care for all patient populations by planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care. The Staff Nurse will collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other members of the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.

What you will do:

  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes. Evaluates patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.
  • Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers. .
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient’s wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs. Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.
  • Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs. Assesses patient’s cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly. Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate. Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
