About the role

Job Title: Nutritional Service Worker/Cook 

Department: Food Services 

Location: Gouverneur Hospital  

Hours Per Week: Per Diem (as needed) 

Schedule: Variable days, shifts, weekends, and holidays  

  

SUMMARY: 

The Nutritional Service Worker/Cook is responsible for preparing, serving, and delivering meals to patient units. This role also includes preparing and serving food in the facility cafeteria for visitors and staff, ensuring all meals meet quality and safety standards. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Prepares and assists in the timely preparation of meals, following established menus and approved recipes to meet scheduled meal times. 

  • Ensures food is visually appealing and meets the nutritional needs of patients, visitors, and staff. 

  • Adheres to national food safety standards, safe food handling protocols, and proper equipment safety procedures. 

  • Assists with special catering events and supports clerical tasks, including data entry and patient tray ticket management. 

  • Actively identifies, reports, and follows up on environmental safety concerns within the nutrition department. 

  • Participates in facility-wide Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs. 

  • Complies with all facility policies, procedures, and completes required annual training in a timely manner. 

  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma (or equivalent)  

  • Food service background 

  • Culinary education 

  • ServSafe Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:

$18.27 - $27.67

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
