Surgical Technician

Overview

The OR Technician scrubs for surgical cases in the Operating Room maintaining equipment and supplies, using the principles of surgical asepsis, and standard precautions.

 

Responsibilities

Collaborates with charge nurse concerning abilities and assignments for operating room techniques. Demonstrates an understanding of the planned surgical procedure and ensures that all necessary instruments and implants are available and sterilized prior to the start of the surgery.

Qualifications

Completion of recognized training course for Surgical Technician (military or civilian).

Current Basic Life Support Level C (Healthcare Provider) certification.

One year experience as a surgical technician in an acute care setting.

Demonstrated ability to scrub procedures in all specialty areas as well as to provide training for other technicians.
