JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking a full-time Education Program Specialist to work on a range of Food as Medicine initiatives. This position will include working with a community-engaged, dynamic, fast paced, interdisciplinary research team. Our team’s goal is to realize a future where everyone can identify, access, prepare, and eat high quality, culturally appropriate food so they can achieve optimal health. To that end, our team develops, tests, and implements evidence-based nutrition education and culinary medicine programming for diverse groups of people in community and clinical settings.

In coordination with the senior education program specialist, this candidate will assist in coordinating and executing aspects of our SNAP Ed and community-based nutrition education programming. This includes providing nutrition education, food tastings, and cooking demonstrations to diverse groups of people who are SNAP eligible in low-income settings (children, adults, and families). The candidate will also be responsible for helping to identify new program delivery sites within the community and maintaining existing relationships where SNAP-Ed approved curricula.

This candidate must have the following:

Exceptional people skills, a passion for impacting diverse communities by providing high quality, culturally appropriate nutrition programming in clinical and community settings either in person or virtually (synchronously and/or asynchronously).  Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven experience marketing and delivering health education programs (individuals and groups) Experience evaluating health education programs and comfortable collecting outcomes data Some familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, and others) and content development (i.e., Word, Canva, Adobe Suite).  

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding. 

This position will be filled at an Intermediate or Advanced Professional depending on the candidate's education and experience. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 1+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience required for higher level positions.
