About the Role:

The Accounting Operations Manager role is part of the Controllership Team and will oversee and actively participate in a variety of projects related to Cars Commerce's revenue and accounting operations.

This new role within Cars Commerce was created to support the rapid growth and evolution of the organization as a result of several acquisitions and new product offerings over the past few years. The role will focus on consolidating, streamlining and scaling financial operations to allow the organization to efficiently achieve its goals.

The position reports to the Director of Revenue Accounting and Operations and combines the financial oversight duties of an accounting professional with the financial analysis responsibilities of a FP&A position. The role provides valuable hands-on experience for professionals who seek to expand their experience and skill set to advance their career/seek upward mobility within a finance organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Execute strategies to reduce functional and operational complexity through streamlined processes, optimized use of technology, and efficient use of resources to deliver cost effective, high quality services to all stakeholders
  • Work with process and control owners to remediate identified control gaps, as needed, and improve internal controls and operational processes
  • Participate as a key stakeholder in system selection and migrations, integrations of acquired businesses and major business initiatives
  • Review new product offerings and revenue contracts to ensure appropriate revenue recognition and billing operations
  • Calculate and analyze monthly reserves for bad debt, credits, and sales promotions
  • Design and implement reporting metrics to measure efficiency, productivity and achievement of financial department goals
  • Be the control owner for key SOX controls related to revenue and accounting operations, as well as participate in other internal audit projects as necessary
  • Perform other duties and projects, as assigned, to assist the Finance organization, such as develop and deliver timely and insightful financial reporting to the organization’s business leaders

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting and Sarbanes Oxley
  • Ability to effectively research and compile data from financial reporting systems, databases, spreadsheets, and other data sources
  • Ability to manage and balance multiple priorities and urgent requests effectively, with the ability to quickly adapt for changing business needs
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and collaboration skills
  • Passionate, energetic, approachable with a positive, low-ego, can-do demeanor
  • Confidence in messaging internal control policy compliance enforcement throughout all levels of the organization
