Job Summary
The Bed Truck Driver: Levels 1 - 3 is responsible moving all equipment around on location and reporting to Truck Pusher.
Pay Range for Truck Driver (Levels 1 – 3) Starting pay depending on experience $25.00 - $35.00 depends on experience.
Internal Relationships
Truck Pusher, other Truck Drivers, Yard Hands, Mechanics, Rig Managers and Yard office personnel, Service Manager / Shop Supervisor
External Relationships
Third party Contractors
Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities
• Works in a safe, healthy, and environmentally protective manner
• Moves drilling rigs and related equipment from the current location to the new location
• Ensures all required paperwork is in their truck
• Keeps trip sheets, interstate mileage records, and logbooks
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment and performs light maintenance on units they drive
• Maintains pre-trip inspection records
• Abides by and is responsible for enforcement of safety policies
• Follows all load securement requirements
• Follows direction and is in close communication with supervisor and rig managers
• Documents work per Ensign standards
• Abides by all DOT laws, rules and regulations and is willing and able to travel when and where requested
• Demonstrates willingness and availability to work long hours and weekends when requested on short notice
• Reports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazards
• Participates in all safety programs, processes and requirements
• Attends Operations Training up to two times per year and up to five days per training at designated locations
• Performs other duties as directed by management
• Level 1:
o Understands and is proficient in Haul Truck: Level 3 duties
o Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections
o Demonstrates knowledge of capabilities of truck
o Checks lines for wear or breakage
o Communicates well and completes paper work and logs properly
• Level 2:
o Understands and is proficient in Bed Truck Driver: Level 1 duties
o Demonstrates knowledge of proper lifting capabilities of bed truck
o Cleans and maintains truck
o Makes sure truck has proper rigging equipment to perform job safely
o Helps out in yard, when asked
o Answers phone when needed for after-hours duty
o Mentors Bed Truck Drivers: Level 1
• Level 3:
o Understands and is proficient in Bed Truck Driver: Levels 1 & 2 duties
o Demonstrates knowledge of where all pieces set
o Performs paperwork daily
o Assists with other operations as needed
o Mentors Bed Truck Drivers: Levels 1 & 2
Other Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Business Policies - Understands and agrees to follow all of Ensign’s Policy and Directives and procedures as set forth in the Ensign Company Policy and Basic Directives Handbook for Employees
• Certifications - Maintains valid First Aid and CPR Certifications and technical and safety certifications required by company or government agencies; remains current on all OSHA, EUSD and other required training
• Drug-free workplace - Conforms to a drug-free workplace, not be under the influence of mind-altering prescription or non-prescription drugs, including alcohol and other drugs of abuse.
• Occupational Health and Safety – Understands fully the Ensign Health and Safety policy and self-responsibility for own health and safety at work; Demonstrates responsibility to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omission
o Uses the correct protective clothing and equipment as provided by Ensign and guards against misuse or damage to such equipment
o Reports any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self corrected, or injury incurred during the course of work, no matter how minor
o Avoids injury resulting from manual handling tasks, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and correct manual handling techniques
Technical Competencies
• Understands and is capable of reading all safety / training requirements and materials
• Demonstrates knowledge of basic mechanical and technical skills
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills
