BACKGROUND

Purpose of Activity/ Assignment:

One of the primary activities undertaken by the Data and Analytics Section (D&A) is compiling data and conducting statistical analyses for global monitoring and reporting. UNICEF’s work in the area of data analysis highlights trends and emphasizes patterns found within the data and suggests how these data can be used strategically to inform evidence-based policy and programmatic efforts. The results of UNICEF’s data analysis work appear in its flagship publications as well as data-driven thematic reports, articles, brochures, documents and other dissemination materials. The purpose of this consultancy is to provide graphic design support for the cross-sectoral report, For Every Child a Fair Future 2025 Progress Report, being led by the Poverty and Gender Equality Team   Scope of Work: The consultant will be responsible for designing and producing the report, For Every Child a Fair Future 2025 Progress Report, including conceptualization, design, layout, picture selection and typesetting of the publication, and for ensuring alignment of the report with UNICEF design standards and branding.  

Terms of Reference / Key Deliverables:

Work Assignment Overview/Deliverables and Outputs/Delivery deadline

1. Conceptualization, graphic design and layout of 2025 progress report which is approximately 75 pages in length, including at least 25 graphics/charts/figures, several tables, and maps. Among the charts there will be large heatmaps - Final PDF and native InDesign files 30 April 2026   2. The heatmaps need to be designed in a compressed format for as well as a fold out page (to make all countries and indicators visible), both for an on-line pdf version and a version to be printed - Design of heatmaps  31 Jan 2026   3. Design of charts to be included in accompanying communication strategy, including but not limited to webpage and country briefs - Charts and graphs for further dissemination and communication 28 Feb 2026   4. Design of report in three UN languages other than English (or, at least, transfer of InDesign files to language-specific designers) - Final PDF in other UN three other languages in and/or InDesign files   Qualifications

Education:

A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in graphic design, communications or related social sciences

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required *:

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as a designer, specializing in publication layout/design and data visualization
  • Proven experience in designing infographics, data figures/charts, publications, PowerPoint presentations, country profiles, maps, web content and other data-driven products
  • Ability to work in Adobe Creative Suite products (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
