Duties:
The position reports to the Drowning Prevention Program Manager within the Division of Community Health at the Florida Department of Health in Broward County (DOH-Broward). This is a professional Senior Health Educator (SHE) position responsible for administrative and programmatic support for the Swimming Lesson Voucher Program and the Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor Scholarship Program. The SHE is also responsible for conducting community outreach activities, including delivery of educational presentations and leading training sessions for community partners across Broward County.
The SHE reviews applications for swimming lesson vouchers and scholarship programs to ensure eligibility and compliance with established criteria. Communicates with program applicants via phone and email to provide updates regarding application status, approvals, denials, or missing documentation. Coordinates with program vendors to address inquiries and concerns related to vouchers and scholarships. Initiates and monitors purchase requisitions in My Florida Market Place, following up as necessary to ensure timely approvals and processing. Processes scholarship and voucher invoices against established purchase orders. Collaborates in the planning and actively participates in local community outreach events, fairs, and activities, driving awareness and promoting water safety and drowning prevention practices. Enters, monitors, and analyzes program data to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepares a wide range of written materials, including correspondence, reports, and presentations for a variety of audiences utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and similar software. Participates in conference calls, meetings, presentations, and training sessions as assigned. Fosters communication between the Drowning Prevention Program, program vendors, and community partners. Performs other related administrative and programmatic duties as assigned.
