ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Alumni Association (USFAA) is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, Direct Support Organization of the University of South Florida. The Alumni Association connects alumni, fostering a mutually beneficial, lifelong relationship with the university; supports students and strengthens USF. All alumni are general members of the USF Alumni Association and the Association also has a life membership program for life loyal alumni and friends of the University. The USFAA serves more than 384,000 alumni worldwide.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be a member of the USF Alumni Association Alumni Engagement Team assisting in implementing events, programs and activities that support the Association's goal of creating a culture of engagement amongst alumni. Specifically, this role will focus on engagement related to the USF St. Petersburg campus and Pinellas County helping to strengthen alumni affinity to the campus and grow alumni engagement across the county. As the staffliaison to the USF Pinellas Alumni Chapter this position will work directly with alumni volunteer leaders providing recruitment, training, marketing, programming assistance and general support to ensure the growth and success of thisimportant alumni group. Working collaboratively with Advancement colleagues on the St Petersburg campus the assistant director will play an important role in driving alumni engagement on campus via campus celebrations andrecognitions, signature campus events like Bulls and Brews, partnerships with other alumni chapters as well as by creating new programs or revitalizing programs to identify and connect key alumni to each other and the campus.
USF Pinellas Alumni Chapter: Identify, develop, cultivate, support, and advise alumni chapter volunteers and committees in the planning, execution, and evaluation of various social, networking, athletic, cultural, student and campus-based programs and events. Expand Pinellas-based alumni programs in number of volunteers and programmatic offerings through scalable initiatives that drive engagement and lead to philanthropy. Sustain and grow alumni volunteer and experiential engagement through chapter events, USF Link and community service. Provide direction and fiscal management for the chapter. Assist with strategic communications to local alumni. Contribute ideas, assist with messaging and provide communications tools for alumni group messages and Alumni Association promotions.
Serve as lead to drive and strengthen alumni affinity to the St. Petersburg campus. Assist in execution of annual Bulls and Brews event and implementation of new programs and events to increase alumni engagement. Continuecurrent partnerships with other alumni groups that conduct activities related to the St. Petersburg campus and create new partnerships. Represent the USFAA at campus events and programs and assist in increasing the role of alumni in campus celebrations and recognitions.
Conduct face to face or virtual meetings with alumni to share volunteer engagement opportunities as well as information on USFAA Life Membership and St. Petersburg campus or alumni association events and programs.Collaborate with Advancement colleagues on strategic opportunities to increase engagement.
General Alumni Association Partnership: Assist with and/or attend Alumni Association events including Homecoming activities, signature events, commencement, board meetings, volunteer leadership trainings, etc. Connect group activities to relevant Alumni Association young alumni engagement opportunities.
Community and Campus Engagement: Coordinate and participate in community and campus groups, associations, and/or activities on relevant engagement opportunities for alumni.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM:
This position requires Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to alumni affairs, community relations or development. Related work experience may substitute on a year for year basis for the Bachelor's degree.
FLSB1310 Equivalency: 4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
Experience in higher education, volunteer management, nonprofit or similar field. Ability to work collaboratively with various constituent groups, colleagues, volunteers and campus partners. Expertise in relationship building andworking in a position with a high level of public contact with internal and external stakeholders.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
