The Campus Rec Assistant Director is responsible to provide and oversee effective operations for respective Campus Recreation administration, programs, and/or facilities. The Assistant Director may provide direction to full-time, part-time, and student workers by supervising tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. They are also responsible for maintaining safety and reducing risk.

The Assistant Director of Facilities & Equipment is responsible for the oversight of all Liberty Mountain Gun Club buildings, grounds and equipment other than firearms. This position largely focuses building upkeep, equipment maintenance, range set-up, range tear down and clean-up each operational day. This position is responsible to ensure LU Facilities Staff and outside contractors are escorted into the buildings for repair and maintenance. In the absence of the Director this position can be in charge of the LMGC until the Director’s return.  This position is responsible for leading professional, part-time, and student employees. This position reports to the Director of the LMGC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for directly overseeing one full time employee and student workers. This includes assisting with hiring, training, developing, scheduling, and evaluating.

• Complete day to day operational tasks to ensure seamless function of LMGC facilities including: coordinating facility scheduling, maintaining machine operations, monitoring equipment function, building and grounds maintenance, set-up and tear down, managing TouchNet reporting, maintaining customer service technologies, and offering customer service trainings, and ensuring efficient customer processes and ensuring policies and standards are being upheld.

• Assists in the development and implementation of all Gun Club programming, including courses, classes, and events.

• Document, track and report on buildings or grounds maintenance needed, as well as inventory and non-firearm equipment maintenance.

• Assist in the procurement of departmental assets, as directed.

• Act as a point of contact for all communications that support entrance to facility and reservations to include: Custodial, Maintenance and external programs.

• Assist in the creation and maintenance of up to date policies and procedures regarding facilities that comply with federal and local laws and university policy.

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of risk management systems including forecasting, evaluating, and responding to facility and program risks to avoid or minimize their impact.

• Be the Range Safety Officer (RSO) on duty to maintain safe operations at the range as needed.

• Responsible as a Chief Range Safety Officer to act as the senior RSO during operational range times.

• As a Firearm Instructor, assist with teaching safety classes.

• Act as an effective team member by assisting with promotion of facilities and programs, set up and tear down for departmental events, reporting equipment concerns, and supporting all departmental goals and objectives.

• Frequently oversee and assist with operations or events during evening, nights or weekend hours.

• Remain up to date on industry standards and performance benchmarks and ensure that the Liberty Mountain Gun Club remains effective and current.

• Perform all other tasks assigned by the Director of the LMGC.

• Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

This position is responsible for the supervision of one full time employee the supervision of student workers on shift.  This position will also be responsible for assisting with interviewing, training, and evaluation of student staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Required Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old

• Four-year college degree from an accredited university

• Ability to confidently facilitate a classroom style training

• Must possess or obtain NRA Range Safety Officer certification within 3 months

• Must possessor obtain NRA Chief Range Safety Officer certification within 1 year

• Must possess or obtain NRA Firearm Instructor certification within 18 months

• Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent organizational skills, problem solving ability and attention to detail
