About the role:

The Engagement Team Generalist is responsible for ensuring a seamless and engaging workplace experience across 8am’s Austin headquarters, San Diego office, and remote workforce. This role serves as the primary point of contact for office operations, vendor management, and employee engagement support, while also partnering with company leadership and the senior members of the Engagement Team to deliver high-quality in-office, virtual, and offsite experiences.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong organizational skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to anticipate needs while balancing multiple priorities. What you'll do:

Workplace Operations & Facilities Management

  • Own and maintain office seating charts, hoteling spaces, and company “heat maps” to optimize space usage and support growth planning.
  • Oversee daily office operations for the Austin HQ and coordinate vendor management for the San Diego office.
  • Ensure both offices are “reception ready” at all times, with well-stocked and organized break rooms, kitchens, conference rooms, and common spaces, guiding junior members of the Engagement team to own this effort.
  • Act as the primary liaison with building management, handling communications, event coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Manage vendor relationships for office supplies, catering, cleaning, furniture, and maintenance.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing mail, deliveries, and shipping needs, including support for Engagement Team initiatives, the Merch Store, and remote activations by mentoring and overseeing junior members of the Engagement team to own this effort.
  • Maintain office-related budgets, track expenses (e.g., YOY comparisons, per-person event pricing), and reconcile credit card receipts for the Engagement Team.
  • Support office moves, furniture orders, and facilities projects under the direction of senior team members.
  • Create and manage company heatmaps for our dispersed teams to ensure we are focusing on engagement in hub locations and identifying areas for coworking opportunities. 

Employee Engagement & Events

  • Partner with senior members of the Engagement Team to plan and execute in-office, virtual, and offsite events (holiday celebrations, happy hours, departmental on-sites, etc.).
  • Coordinate catering, décor, supplies, and vendor contracts to ensure seamless event execution for in-office events.
  • Own the 8amConnect page on 8amCentral for the Engagement team, keeping it up to date with useful information.
  • Lead the PopArt Anniversary initiative and monthly anniversary newsletter, overseeing junior team members helping in this effort, and in collaboration with the Creative team and third-party partners.
  • Manage employee milestone gifting (anniversaries, birthdays, life events) and recognition programs.
  • Oversee fulfillment and inventory of internal Merch Store orders, overseeing junior team members assisting in this effort.
  • Assist with event set-up/breakdown and serve as an onsite point of contact for vendors.
  • Provide guidance and support to Engagement Team interns and temporary staff.

About you:

  • Location: Based in Austin, TX, with the ability to work in-office Tuesday–Thursday and flex for Monday/Friday as needed. Willing to travel occasionally to other hub locations.
