The Staff Research Associate will contribute to impactful research on multiple sclerosis and menopausal cognitive deficit using rodent models. This role involves a range of responsibilities, including conducting experiments using the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) model, such as EAE induction, clinical scoring, and providing specialized care to mice; performing rodent surgeries (ovariectomy, castration) and tissue collection for genotyping, pathological analysis, and immunostaining; conducting cognitive testing and analyzing data; maintaining laboratory organization, including ordering supplies, preparing reagents, and managing equipment; and providing support to the principal investigator, postdoctoral researchers, and senior scientists through data collection, analysis, and research coordination. This position requires a highly organized and motivated individual with strong laboratory skills and a commitment to advancing research initiatives.
Salary Range: $26.52 - $31.63/Hourly

Required:
- Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise breeding of small rodents.
- Ability to inject small rodents.
- Ability to breed and screen knock out mice for gene rearrangements.
- Ability to score and care for mice with EAE.
- Ability to treat mice via subcutaneous pellet implant, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, and intravenous injections, and use of minipump.
- Skill in reading and analyzing scientific journals to keep current in laboratory techniques and research protocols.
- Ability to tabulate results accurately and present them verbally in a comprehensive presentation to the Principal investigator (PI).
- Oral and written communication skills to provide information, instructions, training and advice.
- Ability to learn new software programs and laboratory techniques as needed.
- Knowledge of standard laboratory equipment, supplies, and animals to maintain inventory and stock.
- Working knowledge of PCR, gel apparatus.
- Demonstrated experience with drug administration and tissue recovery.
- Familiarity with multiple sclerosis models in rodents.
- Ability to oversee work of Laboratory
