FlexStaff is hiring a temporary Medical Scribe for our client. Identified candidate will need to travel to our office in Shirley, but must also be able to travel to Commack/Port Jeff as needed.
Schedule: Part Time (2 Days/Week) Thursdays 8a-5:30p and Fridays 8a-5p in Shirley.
Pay Rate: $23-25/hour dependent upon experience
The Medical Scribe provides support to licensed medical providers by increasing their efficiency and productivity. The Medical Scribe allows the doctor to focus on what is most important, the patient. The position requires accuracy, quality work, compassion and timeliness.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Performing all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in a clinical setting.
- Accompanies the physician during patient visits to capture and accurately transcribe medical record documentation utilizing the EMR.
- Prepares and sends all documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures.
- Primary responsibility of the operation of the electronic health records and electronic dictation system.
- Anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic.
- Must be discreet, tactful and modest in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care.
- Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members.
- Schedules appointments for the physicians and physician assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms.
- Retrieve patient’s files in EMR, verify the information on file, and inserts new patient record forms, and information.
- Protect patient’s rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal and financial information.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Timely attendance: must be present at work location/site before scheduled as dictated by specific department Time and Attendance Policy.
- Outstanding patient experience as demonstrated by:
- Immediate acknowledgement of the patient.
- No distraction while interacting with patients.
- Proper attire, grooming and hygiene.
- Being an active and positive member of the health care team
- Attention to detail and engaged in reporting issues regarding patients, facilities, safety and compliance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
- 1+ year of experience working as a Medical Scribe.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy.
- Ability to expertly document patient care and transcribe patient appointments.
- Friendly and compassionate disposition with strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Dedication to maintaining confidentiality of all patient records.
- Frequent sitting and standing from a sitting position.
- Use of keyboard and or computer mouse up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds.
