Job Description:

The Attorney General’s Office in Augusta has an immediate vacancy for a full-time position as Assistant Attorney General in the Health and Human Services Division, which provides comprehensive legal services to all of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, except for child protection and child support.  The position primarily involves advising DHHS with respect to audits, regulatory and contractual compliance of providers, performing legal review of DHHS rules, prosecution of audit appeals before the Division of Administrative Hearings, and also handling affirmative, defensive and appellate litigation in state court.

Minimum Qualifications:

Essential qualifications for this position include strong written and oral advocacy skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.  Candidates must be well-organized and manage multiple tasks effectively.  Prior experience in civil litigation, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution is preferred.    Candidates must be members of the Maine Bar in good standing.
