Accounts Payable Specialist

Montai Therapeutics, Inc., is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and was founded in 2019 by Flagship Labs, the innovation branch of Flagship Pioneering, which is a venture capital firm that invests in biotechnology, life sciences, health and sustainability companies. The Company is a privately held company focusing on its CONECTA TM platform to identify new small molecule medicines known as AnthromoleculeTM therapeutics for chronic diseases.  

Montai is seeking an individual to join its growing Finance team. This role will report to the Controller.

Responsibilities

• Enter all invoices, verifying against purchase orders and ensuring proper department, project and GL account. 
• Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
• Research and resolve invoice or purchase order discrepancies and issues.
• Ensure invoices are matched, approved, processed and paid in a timely manner, W-9 tax ID numbers are accurate, and internal controls are followed.
• Execute payment runs (currently Bill.com).
• Ensure credit is received for outstanding memos.
• Monitor discount opportunities.
• Issue stop-payments or coordinate purchase order amendments.
• Prepare and issue 1099 forms at year end.
• Prepare and file sales and use tax reporting. 
• Pay employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances.
• Collaborate with Accounting team on general ledger reconciliations, account string maintenance, internal controls and other ad hoc activities such as audit requests.
• Develop and track metrics to measure results.
• Communicate with company personnel and vendors on a regular basis.
• Assist the Accounting team in process improvement and efficiency.
• Maintain and update vendor records, ensuring contact information and payment terms are accurate
• Other ad hoc projects as they arise.

Qualifications

• Ability to thrive in a fast growth company
• Professional in all job aspects, including verbal and written communication
• Previous AP and accounting experience
• Experience in the Life Sciences industry is a big plus
• Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with Netsuite, purchasing software Prendio and Coupa, and payment platform Bill.com
• Well organized
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
