This job supervises and directs the work of up to 30 employees in accomplishing the housekeeping services of the hospital interior and related hospital properties, as well as coordinating these activities with other departments. This job - Zone Operations assumes responsibility for the 24/7 seamless service of assigned staff, annual performance assessments and disciplinary actions, departmental training, orientation of new employees, overall professional development of staff, and monitoring of area assignments to ensure all are maintained in a safe, clean, aseptic and operationally-effective condition.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education
Required - High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred - Additional degrees, business training experience and/or certifications may be combined to meet minimum qualifications.
Work Experience
Required - 4 years related experience with two years of service or hospitality supervisory experience.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper use and maintenance of power equipment, such as automatic scrubbers, carpet shampooer, etc.
- Knowledge of proper floor care and care of carpet textiles, upholstery fabrics, wall and floor coverings, wood, and synthetic finishes.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Service recovery and conflict mediation skills.
- Ability to travel throughout facility approximately 90% of time.
Job Duties
- Supervises, trains and develops department staff.
- Oversees customer service, interaction and assistance.
- Completes departmental reports and works on special projects as assigned.
- Conducts training with new staff and ongoing as needed.
- Maintains Environmental Services equipment and supplies.
- Develops personnel to ensure adequate staffing.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as well as overall department safety.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Other related duties as required.
