What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

• Provide technical leadership for the department responsible for body controls and electronics for all new products. You will cover from clean sheet of paper through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for Scout all-electric pick-up and rugged SUVs.
• Work with Cariad, key VW Group module owners, and suppliers to release all appropriate body controls and body electronic components.
• Provide oversight and technical guidance while coaching a diverse team, while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, and promoting continuous learning and professional development among team members.
• Lead the collaborative design and creation of a simulation environment for testing new body system concepts and ideas related to vehicle handling, safety features, and the overall driving experience.
• Develop prototypes for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
• Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.
• Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
• Contribute to the design of production facilities for body systems of Scout trucks & SUVs.
• Support the Engineering Director to manage resources efficiently including infrastructure, financial, supplier partners and people.
• Support the Engineering Director with key decisions regarding body electronics and provide technical leadership for the team, and liaison with all Scout functions.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, engineering management, or a relevant field.
• 10+ years of experience in body electrical and electromechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments, covering all phases of product development (design, test, and launch).
• Strong technical skills and expertise in body control systems, employing a six-sigma approach to engineering design and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.
