Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Registered Dietitian I, Registry- Inpatient Adult.
As a Registered Dietitian II, Registry, you will assess nutrition status, establish nutrition diagnosis(es), develop intervention strategies and monitor/evaluate nutrition care plans in inpatient and/or outpatient settings. The Registered Dietitian I, Registry performs duties in support of, and in compliance with, performance improvement plans, and with requirements of regulatory, accrediting, and licensing agencies. In this role you will be part of the pediatric inpatient team and educate patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members about the effectiveness of therapeutic diets and nutrition support regimens to improve/maintain nutritional status and establish optimal outcomes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Under general direction, has the duties of instructing, assisting in the training, and checking the work of less experienced staff
- Establishes individual plans of care for nutrition therapy based on results of the comprehensive nutritional assessment, including immediate, intermediate, and long term goals of therapy
- Educates patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members about the effectiveness of therapeutic diets and nutrition support regiments to improve/maintain nutritional status and establish optimal outcomes
- Tailors feeding formulations for disease-specific constraints and clinical status changes that may affect tolerance and nutrient utilization
- Authorizes (with approval of a physician) changes to formulas based on clinical assessment of the patient
- Instructs patients and families; when indicated, on modified diets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian (RD) with successful completion of coordinated program, dietetic internship, or other experience approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetic Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- BS degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or other relevant major with 9(+) years total clinical experience OR MS degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or other relevant major with 6(+) years total clinical experience --- less years of experience will be considered as well
- Maintenance of RD through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) by accrual of 75 units of approved Continuing Professional Education every 5 years.

- Registry schedule is dependent on inpatient needs.
- At minimum this role is required to work one day per pay period and can work up to 40 hours per week.
- This position will be added to the current weekend rotation, working 8-10 weekends/year.
