The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience, is recruiting for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow that is dedicated to advancing the science of psychiatry and behavioral neurosciences through clinical research and ongoing collaborative research.

Essential Functions

• Under the supervision of the primary investigator, conduct research experiments on the NIMH-funded project that evaluates transcutaneous spinal direct current stimulation (tsDCS) as a tool to delineate the role of spinal interoceptive pathways (SIPs) in major depressive disorder (MDD) symptomatic domains and its therapeutic potential for human health.
• Develop, synchronize and optimize experimental designs for data collection in a study that involves the use of non-invasive spinal cord stimulation, electroencephalography (EEG), laser-evoked potentials (LEPS) and other physiological monitoring equipment (heart rate, blood pressure, etc.)
• Complete workshop and training to accurately use and develop the necessary tools (including but not limited to continuous blood pressure and heart rate variability monitoring systems, as well as use of advanced neurophysiological, interoceptive and cognitive assessments) to conduct the research protocol, and to interact with human subjects and perform clinical trials according to department standards.
• Operate day-to-day equipment such as an investigational EEG system, continuous cardiovascular monitoring system, and equipment necessary to induce evoked-response potentials at the labs for multimodal neurophysiological data collection sessions.
• Utilize data acquisition and programming platforms such as Labchart, MATLAB/EEGLAB toolbox to analyze the recorded data, provide constructive feedback on experimental design/protocol.
• Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
• Contribute to manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
• Conduct lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.

• Share knowledge of techniques and lab protocols/experiments gained during PhD such as but not limited to basic EEG, evoked-response, and cardiovascular monitoring signal acquisition and data processing with laboratory staff working on the tsDCS project.
