About the Role
As a Yard Technician at Z Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in supporting yard operations, module storage, inspections, loading activities, and shipment preparation. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and organized yard environment while ensuring modules are properly received, stored, inspected, and shipped according to project schedules and quality standards.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong commitment to safety, and thrives in a fast-paced construction and logistics environment.
What You'll Do
Inspect and operate equipment after receiving proper training.
Prepare modules for shipment and complete pre-shipment inspections.
Inspect modules according to established schedules while stored in the yard.
Receive, inspect, and process incoming modules.
Load shipments onto flatbed trucks and specialized module carriers safely and efficiently.
Build cribbing according to design specifications as needed.
Maintain yard conditions to prevent overgrowth and ensure safe access throughout the facility.
Perform basic troubleshooting and problem-solving related to storage, shipping, and yard operations.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, and mobile equipment safely and effectively.
Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.
Travel to active yards and job sites as required.
Follow all safety procedures and quality standards while working in active construction and yard environments.
Collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional departments.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Who You Are
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Technical training is a plus.
Prior experience in a construction environment preferred.
Experience with modular construction or prefabrication preferred.
Eligible to work in the United States.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Basic understanding of safety protocols on active job sites.
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and mobile equipment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable time management and organizational abilities.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Basic math skills to support inventory tracking and shipping activities.
Commitment to quality workmanship and safe work practices.
Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and accuracy.
Work Environment
Work is performed outdoors and at active construction sites, storage yards, and manufacturing locations.
Exposure to varying weather conditions, equipment, construction activity, and moving vehicles.
Frequent interaction with transportation providers, project teams, and yard personnel.
Travel to active yards and job sites may be required.
Physical Abilities
Ability to work outdoors in Arizona weather conditions 100% of the time.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials throughout the workday.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and move for extended peri
