Job Purpose


Provides strategic leadership for the department’s transportation strategy, commercial planning, data analytics, contract governance, and project management functions. The Sr./Manager, Transportation Strategy & Analytics (TS&A), is accountable for leading the end-to-end bid/RFP process, partnering with department leadership and HQ SCM to define requirements, validate volumes, prepare templates, evaluate carrier proposals, and ensure timely execution of transportation agreements in alignment with business objectives, company policies, and executive approval requirements. This role oversees carrier contract development, coordination with Legal and internal stakeholders, and execution of approval workflows to support compliant and effective commercial outcomes. The Sr./Manager also leads departmental analytics for budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, performance reporting, and freight spend visibility, translating data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making. In addition, this position governs department business-plan initiatives by establishing priorities, tracking milestones, facilitating cross-functional alignment, and ensuring timely delivery of high-impact projects. As a results-driven leader, the Sr./Manager sets direction for direct reports, drives accountability across multiple stakeholders, and supports continuous improvement initiatives that advance departmental and enterprise goals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

·         Leads the initiation and execution of transportation bids/RFPs, ensuring alignment with the required timelines, transportation modes, and strategic objectives.

·         Determines business requirements, based on operational needs; reviews all bid requirements with department manager for any new business needs/changes.

·         Monitors progress from the team to pull data and confirms accuracy in collaboration with operations teams; organizes data in accordance with the commercial bid requirements/market studies and HQ SCM Templates.

·         Schedules regular meetings with HQ to review bid requests and carrier proposals to gain alignment in direction and comprehension of the results.

·         Reviews and analyzes proposals, along with department management. Provides weekly feedback to HQ SCM.

·         Creates carrier contract templates for each strategy/mode of transportation. Work with Legal departments and Head of Department to prepare final draft versions of contracts for executive review.

·         Oversees the contract approval process including executive summaries, approval tracking, and DocuSign routing.

·         Leads major interdepartmental business plan projects, ensuring timely task completion, accurate tracker updates, and successful delivery of cross-functional commitments.

·         Develops SOPs and reporting tools for tracking of bid and projects. (Dashboards, Project Trackers)

·         Interfaces with department managers/analysts to obtain bid requirements/volumes, as well as review of budget spend KPIs and reporting.

·         Determines budget forecasting based on expediture trends, contract terms, and operational feedback.

·         Responsible for department accruals monthly.

·         Develops, calculates, and manages key performance indicators (KPIs) to support annual goal setting, as well as ongoing weekly and monthly performance reporting, tracking, and analysis.
