POSITION:
LECTURER IN THEATRE: The Department of Theatre invites applications for a temporary full-time lecturer appointment. Candidates selected will teach a combination of courses in the areas of theatrical lighting and multimedia design and introductory-level theater courses serving the General Education goals of the university. Workload will include assigned time to serve as principal lighting designer or student designer mentor for up to 4 departmental productions across the academic year. This is a full-time, 9-month lecturer position and is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
MFA in Theatre with emphasis in Lighting Design is required.
Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level or equivalent excellence in teaching-related experiences.
Strong background in lighting design rooted in professional performance practices.
Ability to provide industry standard accurate drawings and supporting paperwork, and model clear, collaborative communication for and with design and production students and production teams.
Ability to use and teach Vectorworks, Lightwright, and pre-visualization software; working knowledge of ETC light boards.
Ability to use and teach multimedia control software, such as Qlab, MadMapper, or similar.
Evidence of basic understanding of theatrical audio systems and their integration into multimedia projects.
Ability to teach digital media, projection design, and / or emerging visualization technologies.
Demonstrated supervisory and collaborative abilities; ability to adhere to production timelines.
Superlative organizational practices, time management skills, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to nurture a broad range of students of diverse identities and experiences as demonstrated through pedagogy, service, and activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience in setting up local networks to integrate lighting, projection, and audio system controls.
Evidence of significant professional experience as an assistant, associate, or lead lighting designer.

COMPENSATION:
Salary is based on qualifications and experience. As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.
Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
